Kim Delaney, an American actress best known as the character Detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue series for which she was awarded the Emmy Award. In addition, she was a part of series like All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. Delaney was the sole child of a United Auto Workers executive and his wife, a housewife. Her upbringing was in a home that included four brothers. In her early years she was aspired to become a court reporter. After graduating from high school, and moving into New York in the 1980s then she started modeling. In 1981, she appeared as an innocent teen in the film All My Children. Since then, Delaney has appeared in numerous TV dramas and films. Her professional career has been more successful than her private life. She has been in the past talented actress struggled to overcome the effects of alcohol and two marriages fail. Her custody was taken away from her son in 2005.
