Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, also called Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed by the label's debut female singer with Dreamville Records by J. Cole. The label debuted her first album titled Pho in the month of October of 2016 when she began to get recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It came out in May of 2019. Ari Lennox has released her music online since 2012 following the release of her debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. Ari Lennox continued uploading her songs online, including her independent single Bound. Sweat It is featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21st, 2015. Later that year her music was circulating throughout the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some references for Rihanna. The news was released on the 8th of December that she was signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat is one of the songs she co-wrote with Cozz to record the collaboration album Revenge of the Dreamers II. In October 21st, 2016 the debut EP of Ari Lennox was released under the name Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change song and opened with the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. in 2018, the singer-songwriter appeared on two tracks with EarthGang, on Nothing but the Best, as well as Bas, on Icarus. Ari Lennox's first album Shea Butter Baby was released on 16 July 2018. The first single, Whipped Cream, from the album was released on in September 5th, 2018, accompanied by a the music video. On November 9 she released two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. The 13th of November, she came out with two additional singles, No One and Pedigree. She was featured with Cole on the Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby the 16th of November 16, and then she released the song in a solo version for the album she released her debut. The song was followed by a music video that was released on February 20, 2019, and it surpassed the milestone of 3 million views via YouTube in one week. In December 2018, she performed as an opening act for The From East Atlanta With Love Tour in conjunction with 6LACK.
